Mother 32 + Minitaur

Post by skintechnician » Wed Oct 28, 2015 2:55 pm

Hello forum!

I'm curious to know if anyone has tried using the Mother 32 with a Minitaur? The product info page indicates the Mother is a superb companion to the Minitaur but haven't yet found any examples online. Any feedback or examples would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I would be interested in hearing/seeing this also, my mind and gut tells me the two together would be very good.

Most of the people who are wanting one are on a wait list at the moment. Give it a few more months and you questions are sure to be answered.

I recently acquired a Moog Mother-32 and I tried the use my Minitaur but I'm not sure if I connected it correctly via CV. Pitch CV from Minitaur to KB on Mother and CV Gate from Minitaur to Gate. Audio out from Minitaur to external audio on on Mother 32. I notice the the audio of the Minitaur is lower and the OSC were not in tune with the Mother 32. Tried using the fine tune knob on the Minitaur but no improvement. Anyone else have problems getting these two to work together?

I have a specific question about the two in combination.

Can I hook them together in such way that the keyboard of the mother sends signal to the minitaur and then that audio signal gets sent into the mother? In this way I would have a three oscillator mother 32.

Yes that would work. Keyboard out Mom to pitch in on Minitaur, Audio out Minitaur to External Audio in on mom. I'm not sure if there is a way to mix the level like on the S37 but you could use the volume out on the Minitaur to control gain. I don't know if you would also need to send a gate out to gate in as well. if keyboard out is not any thing more than a pitch cv out gate will be needed. Good luck

Thanks for the reply man. So just to be sure it sounds like with this configuration I would basically have a three oscillator synth with a sequencer and a mini keyboard. Does that sound right to you?

More or less, but you still would not have full range VCOs with the Minitaur. Be sure to play around with feeding the Minitaur the audio out of the M32 to see which filter you like more. obviously you would then use the Minitaur out to your mixer/amp. But the CV set up would remain the same. Have fun.

Sounds good. Minitaur goes up 4 octaves and that is enough for the role I play in my band-- more than enough actually. Just waiting to decide of I go with this combo or get into a simple modular setup that does the same thing.

Be careful with the modular thoughts my friend. That's all I'll say.
