Amos, is v3 ever coming, or is it left behind?

Did the Ver. 2.1 firmware update released in Oct., 2011 at least restore the triplets that were removed by the Ver. 2.0 upgrade?

I would be interested to know that as well.
I just got my MP-201 and it has firmware 2.0
I didn't know there was a 2.1 released.
I can't seem to find it online.

IMHO Moog is very forward thinking and spending time to upgrade the firmware for a discontinued product would have to be a labor of love from someone who's current labor of love is probably focused on present and future projects.

A more achievable solution might be to request open sourcing the firmware for the MP-201 and have the community have at it.

If we break it we can always reinstall a working version.

Thoughts?

I'm in. Would love to get those 4 LFOs tweaked from a USB controller. The pedal doesn't interest me so much as the CV functions inside.

I've stopped talking now.

An Editor/Plug-in for computer/tablet would be awesome. Can set the envelopes the same way you do in Animoog is a dream.

The one issue might be that the firmware contains code used in other moog products, so open sourcing it would be giving away the store.

That being said, Moog is more of a hardware company for me.

What would be the user reaction to open sourcing?

That is beyond functionality that keeps everything from melting down...

It's time for an iPAD and desktop editor for the MP-201.

I personally asked Amos about this two years ago,
And he said it is possible, but he just doesn't have time.
I said, why not let someone in the community do it?
He said, that is probably unlikely, but he said, "It would be cool, though."

Actually, that's a pretty good idea - Moog provide some source code so that someone in the community can drive it. Probably too many Moog secrets hidden in there tho...
Vibration emanates from all things, even nothing. Using awareness to translate vibration into "music" is something that I am whole heartedly grateful for.
