Stuck note with Beatstep pro
Stuck note with Beatstep pro
Hi all.
I recently bought the Moog Minitaur whig I am sequencing through a Beatstep Pro
but I am repeatedly finding that a stuck note crops up after 1/2 minutes of playing.
I updated to Rev2 which stopped all issues when its is being sequenced via usb from the computer
but midi from the beatstep is still a problem.
Any ideas?

Hi ficelles,
Is it possible that you have two devices (one of them being the BeatStep Pro) connected to your computer via USB (even if it's just for power)?
The BSP does *NOT* like to have any other devices in the chain connected via USB unless you use that proprietary USB "Y" connector that's included with the BSP.

I am having the same exact problem. glad to know it is not just me. I have taken everything else out of the equation by just hooking the midi out of beatstep pro to minitaur. USB power is coming from a USB power supply. No computer or other path. And after a couple minutes tops and stuck note. I then have to unplug and replug power adapter to minitaur. have not tried anything else in via midi yet been using the USB in.

Just checking...
Do you have the latest BSP Firmware update 1.1.1.6?
http://www.arturia.com/beatstep-pro/resources
I'm not saying I know of a specific fix for that, but a lot of things were tightened up.

Same exact problem as me. Minitaur on firmware 2.1.1 and Beatstep on 1_1_1_6 and it drops out all the time usually after a minute or two. In the meantime I use the manual panic feature on the minitaur by doing : PANIC/ALL NOTES OFF: Press and hold GLIDE + turn AMP EG SUSTAIN knob TO ZERO.
Still the minitaur it titchy with midi anyway but hoping for a fix.

Is there an issue of using the BSP which supplies 10v of CV, to the minitaur that only accepts 5v? I've read the BSP manual, and it hints that the 10v might JUST be for the drum gates, but isn't conclusive, and if that is the case it doesn't specify the SEQ1 and SEQ2 voltage at all.

Just an FYI, finally heard back from Arturia tech support. It does supply 10v of CV. If you don't attenuate the voltage you will cook the inputs on the minitaur, or any modern moog.

I've been looking at getting a separate sequencer for the Minitaur. In several of the Moog videos folks are using a Future Retro Orb, which looks very interesting, but I like your comments about using a Beatstep Pro. WRT to the CV voltage mis-match and attenuation issues what do you think of using the Koma Electronik Attenuation cable for the CV inputs toi the Minitaur?jsharpphoto wrote:Just an FYI, finally heard back from Arturia tech support. If it was set to keep the Max voltage limited to +5 would this be a viable solution to keep the Minitaur happy?

That's the only one that I know of. When you get the attenuator tuned to exactly 5v, might be smart to tape it in place or something.

If you're wanting to tame your CV signals ~
Add a Moog CP-251 to the mix, and you'll have a pair of attenuators, LFO, Lead/Lag, sample & hold, CV mixer...

Re: Stuck note with Beatstep pro
That's one option, sure. But you would need 3 of them to attentuate the cv outs of the BSP and that's not accounting at all for the drums. Attentuator cables are really the most reasonable options. But as I have said before, midi was invented for a reason. The only reason to use the BSP over CV, would be because I'd didn't have midi.Stuka wrote:If you're wanting to tame your CV signals ~
