Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
Hi guys, I've done two recordings of the issue that I'm having with the Multidrive knob.
Just to explain what's happening - when I twist the Multridrive either physically or automate it by MIDI, I get that noise which I'm not sure if should be there and I'm a little bit annoyed with it. Listen carefully to the noise when the amplitude increases and decreases. I understand the signal goes through the distortion path, but is that noise supposed to be there?

As I'm not sure if this is normal, I urge rest of the Sub 37 owners to test it out themselves and see if they've got the same problem?
Thanks!

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
Anyone, please? I'm seriously considering repairing my Sub 37 while it is still in warranty, if that would be the case.
Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
does it only happpen when you're turning it? perhaps a dirty pot?

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
I have tried a variety of patches turning the multidrive up and down and hear no issues at all. Grabbing a bit of your sound cloud sample and looking at it in 'Wavepad' you can see little 'spikes' which I think is the noise you are talking about. Are you recording directly from the Sub37?
I can get a similar audible effect if I overdrive my external minifooger delay although there is definitely no clipping in your sample.

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
Thanks for you answer, and yes, I'm recording directly from Sub 37 to the UAD Apollo Twin.
Since there's no clipping, I've no idea where that noise comes from..
Does anyone from Moog knows what's happening?

When appealing to Moog, it's best to send an email directly to the service department than to hope they're trudging through these forums.

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
I do have a little bit of a click sound when adjusting the Multidrive. I will investigate more and contact Moog as it seems this is not happening to everyone.

If I can have your front panel settings or a patch sysex I'll try and see if I can recreate it.. it might be patch dependent

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
I'm sure it's not patch dependent because I get that noise on each patch that has been saved or it is in the making.. and the weird thing is I've never noticed it before.Rufus the Dog wrote:If I can have your front panel settings or a patch sysex I'll try and see if I can recreate it.. it might be patch dependent

I've e-mailed Moog about the issue, let's see what they say
Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
I got no reply from Moog, messaged them like 10 times probably in the last week. I've got no other option but to return it... thank god I still got 1 month warranty left. this is the second sub 37 that I'm sending back. I feel like buying the 3 years extended warranty option is a necessity for this product. sad.

I'm not sure how your emails could have been missed except that our spam blocker was preventing them from being received. Our apologies for this.
We own an Apollo here as well and tested the issue. Are you by chance plugging into the Hi-Z input? If so, connect to your rear combo jack
The level distorts the JFet in the Hi-Z.
If you are using a DI box or combo jack already, please give us a call directly and we will take care of you - 828-251-0090

Re: Sub 37 Multidrive Problem
Hi, it could have gone to your spam box because of the link I've included, sorry if that's the case. I'm not using the Hi-Z input nor a DI box, just the rear combo jack. I already got in touch with the UK distributor and we'll hopefully sort it out pretty soon.
Thanks
