Is it ok to use a daisy chain cable?

Post by proun » Sun Jun 14, 2015 10:07 am

hello i have a drive, boost, and chorus pedal and one moog issued adapter - is it ok to use a visual sound 1 spot daisy chain (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/1SpotMC5) with the one adapter to power all 3 at the same time?

thanks
justin

I use either one or two MiniFoogers with another pedal this way. It's ok :)

To expand a bit on the previous answer:
  • the 1 spot will have printed on it the current in amps it produces (I think it is in the 1700 milliamp range)
  • the pedal will (usually) have how many amps it draws; usually they are in the 10 - 30 milliamp range; if all else fails, the Moog website has them listed
  • add up the amp usage from each pedal and if it is less than what the 1 spot can produce, you're good
As an example, if you have a Boost, Distortion and Flanger they draw 8 ma, 10 ma, and 18 ma respectively for a total of 36 milliamps, well within the capabilities of the 1 spot.
