Bob Marley- Stir It Up- on Voyager Help?

Post by MacAquinas » Tue Apr 21, 2015 3:37 am

Can anyone tell me how to make that wonderful sound on a Voyager? All i could find was on very low resolution YouTube with the camera shaking back and forth and i cannot tell what the settings are because if you pause it its a blur. And I suspect some Reverb and Delay would help but it's the Voyager settings i could really use some help with please. :?

I did a recording using the Little Phatty v various plugins which you can find here (in spanish): https://archive.org/details/ElSintetizadorDeStirItUp

One of the resources that I used at the time and can help you is this one: http://m.matrixsynth.com/2011/06/stir-i ... patch.html

I have to try that too, since I didn't have a Voyager back then...

I just discovered that preset E:102 Mod Wheel Bubbler.. sounds incredibly close having many of the qualities of that sound. I think i may be able to tweak that and get it very close.

This guy got it pretty good on a model D

https://youtu.be/SSvHX4lwKqk

He did a video of the settings as well

https://youtu.be/MFaRTCFGqso

Looks like to me:
OSC2 - 16 - N/A Freq - Saw Wave VOL: 9
OSC2 - 4 - 0 Freq - Mid Pulse Wave VOL: 6.5
OSC3 - 4 - 3 Freq - Saw Wave VOL: 10

Not sure about Cutoff looks all the way to the left?
Res looks like 7

Filter EG: A-1 sec D-1 sec S- none
Volume EG: A-lowest D: 2 sec S- full

Ive never played a model D so those are just what I see from the video. Probably have to fine tune it for a voyager but should get you close.

Thank METERMAN i will give it a try. I just absolutely love that sound. I was able to get almost dead on with the Arturia iMini on iPad but I just haven't nailed it yet on the Voyager. If i finally get it right maybe i will upload the patch somewhere.

Here is them playing it on the BBC you can see the minimoog about 10 seconds in: https://youtu.be/rf8GjhXvOjU

Thats cool, just tried it, sounds spot on (Voyager).
It'd be ace if we had a thread of songs using a moog and try to deconstruct the patch.
I love that stuff.

There are a couple of candidates here:

I would suggest to do only the most famous ones. Maybe we can begin with Flashlight?

Think that's a great idea, and I love that bass synth on Flashlight!

Well, I think some of the work has already been done for us, but we all know different music. In other words, if you browse through the presets you might already find many classic sounds that sound almost identical to the original songs.

I have started a thread to see if we can get together and work out which presets belongs to which song: http://forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23400

Please check in and if possible try to help, I don't know quite how to work it out, but if it gets done it will be awesome!
