Absolutely the most stunning NAMM in years, for analog synth lovers, players, programmers and aficionados. Hats off to Moog (go Amos!), the NEW 'Sequential' (with a cheers to Yamaha for graciously relinquishing the name), Korg + ARP, Tom Oberheim, Roland (be great if that JD-XA contains some quality real analog!) and all the amazing smaller & modular companies, too many to name. Can't remember a better time to be part of the electronic music community:) Wish I was there, cheers to all of them and to all of us!

I think that, without a shadow of a doubt, DSI with their Sequential Prophet 6 polyphonic analog synth will steal the show at this 2015 NAMM.

This is one polysynth everyone was asking for. Dave Smith listened. And now he delivers.

If only Moog Music could get off their pedestal, and forget about producing monophonic overpriced behemoths modulars for millionaires, especially when there are already other companies that offer clones for 3 times less money, and think about regular folks who would like a reliable modern Memorymoog re-issue ?

The Sequential Circuits Prophet-6 was a real surprise. At $2800 it's not cheap, but very much within the reach of many. A 6-voice VCO (not DCO) 49-key absolute great sounding and great looking synth. Dave Smith is awesome!

Yeah, you`re right, this also makes me disappointed, but as I`m not so keen on that maschine having already two P 08s I can sleep well.
The same with the 4 octave keybed.
It`s obviously a sales strategy of Mr. Smith merely because the Nr. "6" had been vacant in his whole product assembly.
If it would have 8 voices and a 5 oct. keybed, might have been too competitive with his other products.
But yeah it`s really a pity for a "pioneer" reissue instrument, or kinda......., as Smith said in his introduction the 6 is definitively NOT a replacement for the old 5.

At any rate, as I often said a severeal times before, I`m staying cool and lean back waiting for the next year.

Oh that would be fatal for Mr. Smith`and DSI`s reputation...........

Having owned a Memorymoog since 1986, I do not find 6 voices to be a hindrance.

When my OB-X was 4 voices, that wasn't enough.

If history is anything to go by, there will be a desktop version in a year or two.

Nice modulars.

I liked the potential of the prototype Roland JDXA on display at NAMM. Here's a clip just released from the Roland news conference describing it as a 4 voice analog with Roland Supernatural voices and sequencer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4KeiyYPsQ4

I'm very happy for the 1% getting a Moog Modular reissue, but just give us a Sub Phatty Rack already, Amos. :D

Well, then you`ve obviously a very special playing style..........
Wen I`m playing my 08s, Poly or CHROMA I always have my right leg on the sustain pedal and use it for nearly 100%. When playing then a sequence with "Hold", or holding from time to time, voices are used more quickly the more fast or the more you`re holding keys.
Melodies are going to be chopped and that`s very crappy and annoying.
Through the decades I missed SO much a second Chroma expander unit, and now I`m SO HAPPY not to suffer any more from this with the ability to polychain two 08s. It`s like heaven on earth. Just to mention, I`ve been grown up the first 12 years on a Grand Piano, and there derives my playing style from.
And think of stacking two sounds, you`ve got only the 4 voices when doing so. Playing on one keyboard for me that`s unusable. The only solution might or maybe to use an aditional synth for the second hand...........................
