Sub 37 strange behavior to record Arp in DAW

Post by sixhand » Mon Dec 01, 2014 4:44 pm

after you record your own pattern (also with a preset pattern) inside the Sub 37, you are able to record the midi file inside your DAW, perhaps you want to change anything.

The strange behavior is, that the recorded midi pattern isn´t in time! Every note will be a little bit in front of your quantisation. It is out of time!

Believe me, i try everythink inside the DAW with timcode (ASIO, MTC, etc.), also in the menue of the Sub 37.

Anybody else try to do this?

DAW: Cubase 7.5 on WIN 7 / 64 bit
MOTU 828 mk3

if you are in cubase, you need to goto transport then at the bottom there is the project synchronization. then at the bottom of this screen you will see midi clock destinations. provided you use USB and its installed, you will see Moog sub 37. tick that box.
then select your arp or sequence. make sure the sync button is lit next to the arp section. when you play and record, this will now lock into cubase. i do this for all sequence and arp parts and its synchronised like a rock. perfect timing every time.

Hi rbmusic,
Thanks a lot to your reply. All you descibe i done before. But today i found out the matter. I do as follow, please try also.

I trigger the pattern inside Sub 37 maybe by note C2 over 16 steps, only one note. I open a second midi channel in the DAW, in order to be able to record the pattern as midi notes from Sub 37! After you record the sequence you see each note triggered by the pattern. You will be able to change notes inside the DAW.

Before i found this matter, the notes sometimes in time, allmost out. I get inside the Sub 37 Global menu page 1.4, SEQ OPTIONS and change KBD RESET to ON. Know the timing is perfect.

yeah thats really odd. mine is bang on in time and i made no changes inside the sub itself. i literally just made the connection to the synch in transport on cubase and it all runs solid. good to hear you are on track and have it sorted out though. let the fun commence!
