Is there a way to soften the keyboard action on the Sub 37? I find it to be a big stiff. I wonder if there's any trick to loosen it up a bit so that I can speed up my playing.
Thoughts?

Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
I own a Little Phatty and had the same issue with it. I contacted the Moog factory and they sent me (for $10!) a set of more compliant springs, one for each note. I just swapped out the old springs for the new ones. It definitely softened up the action, although not as much as I would have liked.

I'm having the same issue with my new Sub 37..... the action is way too stiff... I'm going to do as you mentioned and contact Moog and get those replacement springs.

I also have the same issue with mine Sub 37(almost all black keys are stiff),i don't think that Moog should ask money for this..it's a fault
Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
I thought it was just me imagining this stiffness with a new Sub 37.
There is some way to calibrate the keys response though, I think, from reading the manual. Not sure if that would make any real difference.

Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
I wouldn't say that it's a fault. I find the key action just about perfect for me. It's my Sub Phatty that was a bit stiff but still nice. All a matter of personal preference.
Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
Agreed, keyboard action is certainly a matter of taste/preference. For me, the keyboard is great on both the SubP and the 37.
Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
It is not a matter of taste/preference,it is objectively an issue on mine:the black keys are stiff and are too high, the white ones (except some)are good, thus resulting unplayable, awkward, you loose the control when playing a speedy scale.
I don't think it is a Fatar keyboard assembly.

In your case I would agree that it's not a matter of preference. Key action should be uniform across all keys regardless of preference. You should contact Moog support.griso wrote:It is not a matter of taste/preference,it is objectively an issue on mine:the black keys are stiff and are too high, the white ones (except some)are good, thus resulting unplayable, awkward, you loose the control when playing a speedy scale.

I agree 100% and a quick comparison to any other mfg's keyboard will show that the sub 37's keyboard is not right... I love the synth but the keyboard is a big disappointment.

Re: Sub 37 Keyboard Action
Personal preference I guess but I was 'widdling' away last night playing as fast as my rubbish fingers would allow the same riff on my Nord Lead 4, Sub Phatty and Sub 37 and I could found I had most difficulty on my Sub Phatty with Sub 37 next and Nord Lead 4 best. The Sub Phatty was a real struggle.
Do the Sub Phatty and Sub 37 share the same basic key bed?
