This is a demo I made when the Doepfer Dark Time sequencer was released.
Nothing fancy, just to show what it is capable of.

Not the main instrument, but still lots of Micromoog on these two tracks:

Tom, this may not be fancy but it's delightful to watch and listen to. I looked at the Dark Energy eighteen months ago, when the Minibrute came out, and they just weren't available over here so I stopped looking. The story had a happy ending: I finally bought a Sub Phatty. But that's a thick sound for one oscillator!

I read your comments on YouTube. Would it be fair to say that you're using the sequencer as a custom arpeggiator?

Thanks!

In a way I think you're right.
The sequencer plays the notes in the Dark Energy and the pitch of the sequence is determined by the note I played on the Remote SL.

I have a lot of fun with the Dark Time.
Connected to the Sub Phatty it makes you miss a arpeggiator less.

Kick drums are fairly easy to do on the Sub. For "Third Rep" I created a dirty snare by combining two different sounds and some reverb.

I haven't used a sequencer; it's all made by hand/ear and cut/paste.

That's some real dark stuff you've got going on there :D Like the kicks in second stain, very dynamic.

I bought a Minitaur and have been going crazy with it (to the point of overdoing it, but sweeping the filter is too much fun!).

On all the following songs the Minitaur is providing the bass:

https://soundcloud.com/greenborder/kids ... onkey-tonk (bass in intro / outro, the acid line is from a Blofeld)
https://soundcloud.com/greenborder/infi ... hed-w-luuk
https://soundcloud.com/greenborder/minitaur-acid-bath
https://soundcloud.com/greenborder/blikopener-w-luuk (at the end I mixed in some Minitaur for the squared sweeping sound)

and some arpeggiated freak sessions;

Thanks for listening.
Damn, now i need a Minitaur :-)
You have some great music on your Soundcloud! I somehow never understood that your tune "Exporation" was possible on the Minitaur. Very cool!

Thanks for listening to my stuff and your kind words! I did two more songs in a similar vein yesterday. One has guitar but the rest is just the Sub Phatty. I'll maybe post them tonight.

Korg Monotribe jam! Can't seem to spend enough time with my little boxy buddy lately. I'm thinking about doing some vocals for this one. Pro tip: listen to this one realllly loud. :)

I know what you mean. There's a lot of sound in these little boxes. My desire for an actual MS-20 is too weak to go anywhere, but its spawn are quite potent. Even with one oscillator, Monotribe/Monotron has a beefy presence. I wish my little Monotron had a more usable keyboard (usable for playing in tune, that is). Was this made using the built-in sequencer, or has yours been modified to accept MIDI? This fall I've been recording stuff with the Volca Bass, which has a smoother, more polite tone.

This song was made with the onboard sequencer, though a couple things were done freehand. I do plan on having mine outfitted with MIDI. I own the Volca bass as well, but I don't use it as often as the Monotribe. It sounds great but the battery life is that of a mayfly and AAs are expensive. Korg needs to ship their boxes with wall warts or I'm not buying any more of them!

I use eneloop rechargeables in mine, but someone on the Gearslutz thread recommended this AC adapter for $8.35: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400488828484. One of my little dreams is to send CV note and gate from the Bass to the Monotron, but I'll let someone else try that first.

Here's two more songs utilizing only the Sub Phatty.
Both are written as incidental music for an imagined 80's horror flick. Noisy, dirty, un-tight and unholy.
