Re: Post your Old School serial number!
Yeah. This was such marketing bull; announcing the end of production just to boost sales, and then proceeding to produce hundreds more...
Add to the fact that nobody knows exactly, now, what is the serial number of the real last Old School to have been built ?
I have asked many times Moog Music for such information, and never, ever, got a reply...
And, even though I'm registered and confirmed, I'm not expecting a brass knob anytime soon either... I was supposed to have received Moog stickers back in 2008 when I bought my early serial number OS. Never received anything...
Mind you, I don't care about such things now. I just enjoy playing their instruments.

Re: Post your Old School serial number!
At that point of time this was indeed the last OS and there were no plans for building more. I know it for a fact because i was there in queue and had to actually wait several months to get the last unit. It took a year or so when they decided to continue the production due to demand. Not because of some marketing trick.
Just wanted to clear this out - since i know the whole thing inside out how it happened and developed.

Re: Post your Old School serial number!
I remember vividly all the hype about the limited run for the Old School version. Get yours before they run out, only 500 will be produced, guaranteed to increase in value with time, a collectible item, and all that marketing crap.
Truth is, after they decided to produce hundreds more passed number 500, stores had difficulty selling their overstock for a long while after Moog finally stopped producing them at serial number ???? (your guess is as good as mine on this)

Re: Post your Old School serial number!
Hi!
This is my first post on this site!
I have just bought an Old School on eBay for £1500, from someone in Greece.
The serial number is 0527
I am in Dumbarton, Scotland.
The Voyager I bought is in amazingly good condition, it also came with an official Moog Voyager flight case.
Can anyone tell me (roughly) when mine was made?
Serial number 0527
Cheers,
David

Re: Post your Old School serial number!
I usually buy a synth because I want to enjoy making music with it, not because of what any marketing department at any manufacturer says or what I believe would be a "good investment" to be sold later. Subjectively speaking, a synth like the Voyager OS is a keeper anyway, I can't imagine any better sounding and performing synth like it and will never sell it no matter the price. And that's not because I own something that's "unique" or "rare".thealien666 wrote:I remember vividly all the hype about the limited run for the Old School version. Don't get me wrong though, I also get annoyed by that artificial "limited edition" sales talk, because I believe a good instrument should be available as long and for as many people as possible. But yet it seems to work for many companies (see Korg) so we won't get rid of it soon. Better learn to live with it.
