Voyager problems with patches

Post by visconti » Sat Sep 15, 2012 6:20 am

Hi everyone.

I have a problem with my Voyager electric blue edition. Most of presets became almost mute (i can hear a very tiny sound with all volumes to max -and relative noise-). All the other presets (10% of total) works perfectly. Most of patches I saved have the same problem.
My firmware is 3.5. I tried to re-install firmware, but Voyager tells me "operation failed!!!!!".
I tried to set factory sounds (from the menu copyright info) and the things get worst: problem not resolved, and ALL PRESETS with name changed in strange characters (example: ## m ç ** à k ).
I saved all banks before with sysex but when i select "Receive presets" I send it with my software (SySex Librarian for Mac) nothing happens.
Well guys, I'm pretty sad. I hope I have not to re-send it to assistance (I already have a problem with 2 osc some months ago.........).
For how much I paid it, I cannot tolerate all these troubles.

Someone can help me? Thank you.

Well, finally i reinstalled firmware and my patches. The problem is the same. I tried to copy other patches found on knobtweak, but in the new patches i put in there is always the same problem. 5-10% sounds working, all others almost mute......
is a problem that I can fix myself?
Thank you for you time.

UPDATE: if i turn both filters to 3 poles or less, EVERY PATCH sounds. I have to do it for every patch in edit menu (Filter pole sel.)
What can it be? So, filter? Well, that 5-10% of sounding patches have 4 poles for both filters anyway.

Did you ever find out why this was happening? I have exactly the same problem. Re-loading the patches via sysex doesn't help.

Sorry guys,
this has really nothing to do with the software - this is a hardware malfunction in the filter. Please contact your dealer or Moogmusic.

Before I contact support, what are the filter pole settings supposed to be for Patch 1, Tasty Moog Bass, Select Series (Bank A)? I altered them to 1 and 1, then ran a sysex update (SysEx Librarian 1.3 from iMac). Midi light lit on the Voyager while the sysex transfer was running, but no change in the values for the filters. Receive Presets is set to enabled on the Voyager (Performer), and the patch showing on the display while the sysex is running is Tasty Moog Bass.

Tasty Moog Bass ---> Filter A = 4 pole / Filter B = 4 pole

Thanks.

I definitely have a problem as there is just the faintest sound with both set to 4.

How did you resolve this in the end ?

I have a similar thing but with only 10-15% of the sounds muted, and for some reason changing the routing in the mod buss would bring the sounds back to life, although I couldn't tel you if they were sounding exactly as the presets were meant to, but re-saving them after bringing them back to life seemed to work fine. Sometimes the patch just needed additional Filter Cutoff to get it sounding, and other times nothing seemed to work.
All OS reinstalls failed.

Am I looking at the same filter hardware issue ?

If so, what are the details of it ?

Many thanks,

Paul
