Big Briar MF103 vs Moog MF103

Post by voyager0500 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 4:57 pm

Hey guys,

I have the Big Briar version of the MF103 (the one that has Bob Moog written on the front) and I was wondering about something that I saw in a video on Youtube.
Namely, the newer versions of the MF103 that have Moog written on the front seem to have a feature on the LFO that restarts the LFO every time a signal is present.
Also the LFO light is OFF if there is no signal. On my MF103 the LFO LED is always on and cycling. Also on mine its never off, instead it just dims. On the newer ones the LED goes off.

Are there any other differences between the 2? Im thinking about selling mine and picking up the newer Moog version.

I have a later model 103 (ser 6095) and it works pretty much the same as your BB version.

The LFO will dim to off during part of the cycle.

Otherwise, the LFO remains cycling whether there is audio signal present or not.

Same here, no LFO reset. I have a Moog version.

Keep that BB!!
Vibration emanates from all things, even nothing. Using awareness to translate vibration into "music" is something that I am whole heartedly grateful for.
