Anyone know what type of wood is used on the foogers?
I'm trying to pick a stain from nice-racks to match...

Hmmm, tons of people reading this and no guesses, so I'll guess Walnut.
The grain is too smooth to be Oak and pattern too curvy to be Maple. I don't think Poplar would be used but you never know. Walnut isn't cheap; could be Ash.
The Synth.com cabinets are Walnut so if somebody has one of those expensive cabs next to some foggers, maybe that would yield a clue.

I've got recent Foogers, older Foogers and a Big Briar Fooger. They are all different woods and or finishes. (The older ones are better looking to me. Darker and redder, like a Winchester stock.)

I think the difference in the finish has to do with wood and stain batches. All Moog wood is ash, unless otherwise specified. The old Moog used walnut. The stain is a custom blend only Moog has. Amos said a while back that Minwax makes a stain that comes close, but it's not exactly the same.

One guy who I was trying to get to build me a synth cabinet told me that with a stain, you can't tell the difference between oak and ash. Now Im not a wood man persay but this could be true.
Also, not all of my Fooger cheeks are exactly the same stain.

Thanks for all the feedback...
There are just so many choices:

They look kind of red/cherry to me...

Mmmmmm...
Foogerwood.
Sounds like the name of a high-end community or a daytime soap opera.
Edit: Or coffee!

No thats what I get when I think I might be getting a new Moogerfooger.
Wait I didn't type that....darn evil left hand.
Edit: THe preceeding usually followed immediately by a Moogasm or two which might indicate a problem on many levels.

Foogerwood-if it lasts more than four hours, call your doctor.
