Moog Guitar Model E1 - $3295!

Post by MFenkner » Sat Jul 11, 2009 1:14 pm

In the recent Sweetwater catalog they have the Moog E1 guitar which looks exactly like the Paul Vo edition but without the fancy top - and the price is only $3295! Immediately I searched online to find more information, but there is no mention of it, not even on Sweetwater's webpage. Maybe Sweetwater accidentally let the cat out of the bag too early.

Here's the description from the catalog:

"The Moog Guitar Model E1 is poised to redefine your guitar playing forever! This powerful instrument has innovative Moog Guitar electronics for an entirely new musical vocabulary. You'll experience instant, ethereal sustain at every fret position; flip a switch and the strings instantly mute. Use the footpedal to shift effects between the neck and bridge pickups to pull new harmonics directly from the strings. This edition features an alder body alongside Graphtec piezo saddles and a trem for charting even more undiscovered sonic spaces. The Moog Guitar Model E1 also has chrome hardware and 18:1 tuners" Available in Red, Black, and Trans Butter.

It's about time Moog came out with a more affordable model. Hopefully it has all the same electronics.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Mark

Can you do a cat(alog) scan? I'd love to see the pictures.

Sweetwater has PDF's of their catalogs online, but the latest one they have up is Spring '09. I assume yours says "Summer"(?).

I think that's just bad lighting. It looks like that's Navy w/ gold hardware when he turns to an angle where light nearly manages to hit it.

Any word on this from the NAMM show? I noticed that Sweetwater has some info on their site . . .

E1 Moog guitar

I wonder if this also has as much circuitry? Like does it have the filters, or as much "Vo Power" as the limited edition has. Guess it is getting close to the Ltd. Editions being sold out. I assume Moog will have a news flash on this new model just as soon as all the Ltd's are sold.

I was just getting ready to post something, but I wanted to do a little more looking around first to see if I could find out anything else.

But I DID just notice THIS http://www.guitarnoize.com/blog/comment ... -model-e1/! There's a LITTLE blurb about it, and a video that NO LONGER EXISTS! Sweetwater put a seven minute video on YouTube, then PULLED it!

Sweetwater probably pulled it due to pressure from Moog. Moog probably wants to be the first to post a video about it. Just a hunch.

Moog E-1 Guitar

I wonder if when this guitar comes out, will my Vo collectors edition be worth more or will it be worth less?

As a general rule, when I see a product with words like "Collector Edition" on it, I don't bet on it becoming collectible. Not to say it couldn't go up in value. But the REAL collectibles are collectible because no one thought to collect them.

I think your guitar will be a nice investment when they run out of the COllectors edition.

I mean come on, just about anything like this with a limited run will be sought after .Give it the several years rule and you will be glad you held on to yours. Especially with that AAAAA quality.

They will be better than any standard edition for sure, though you can probably xpect some depreciation in the short term.

Moreover, if the guitar does in fact "change everything," then it would be pretty nice to own one of the first ones built.
