Thats right folks! It has now been done.. And not just done, but done amazingly well!

I wanted to inform you all about our custom hand built E1 Moog Guitar by Paul Rhoney Guitar Co (Paul is my wife Anna's brother, my bro in law)

Like a lot of Moog Guitar owners we loved the instrument, but wanted it with our own custom look and feel.

After a few months, it is done and works, sounds and feels amazing. Almost like a whole new instrument. Well, frankly it is - but with the same electronics as the standard E1. However due to my bridge choice, the Piezo was scrapped for now. Not a big deal, and this is just one way to do it.

My brother in law was very methodical about the whole project for many good reasons. He went as far as to buy a blem vo signature body off ebay to make a professional laser routing template - in which to make a perfect cut out in the body (this way he wouldn't scuff our original E1 body). BUT in lay men's terms, he is set up already to put the electronics in just about ANY electric body design.

About our design. I wanted something that gave the feel of a Moog synth (black, wood, etc). The body, it is really an original Paul Rhoney design. This body style he calls "The Oceanic" and/or "Oceana" (sorry if I misspelled that Paul ;) ) It is based roughly on the shape of a hybrid between a Gibson-like body and a Supro (vintage guitar) design. The body is two parts. No plastic on the back! you can take the whole back off to access the electronics! Classy... The headstock is an original Paul Rhoney design as well. The neck feel much closer to a Les Paul than the original "super strat" feel of the E1. In fact, Paul would love to just call it the E2, but I think we might be infringing a bit there. ;)

However, Mr. Rhoney can make any style of electric guitar body/neck/headstock. He is an amazing boutique luthier and is VERY reasonably priced. Check out his site when you have time, or just Google images for Paul Rhoney Guitar Company. http://paulrhoney.com/ . He is also on the forum here as Stereordinary . He is located right here near us in Portland Oregon!

Hope you all enjoy the pics.(Check out the super sexy tortoise shell binding and the triple color/wood tone pallet in pic two).

Most if not all questions should be directed toward Paul Rhoney. See the link to his site above.

PS.. Video coming soon..

PSS... For some reason the forum wont load the pic of the back of the guitar. Visit http://s41.photobucket.com/albums/e286/MoogBenefit/ to see it and all full res pics of the guitar!

I'm thinking it's because people are as speechless as I am! The guitar itself is incredible but with the addition of the Paul Vo electronics it's just too amazingly beautiful for words!
