Firstly, chuck a dummy lead (a patch lead with nothing attatched on the other end) into the cv/gate of the LP to keep the gate of the synth open.
Then plug your guitar into the audio in of the LP. You may want to turn down both oscillators on the LP as well, as they will continue to ring whilst the gate is open. You can then run the guitar through the LP's filter.

One of the guys posted a brief tutorial on how to go about this late last year. The biggest challenge is getting the Filter cutoff to open/close via envelope when you strike a string/chord on your guitar.

You can certainly do this via expression pedal, but it's not very precise unless you've got practice with a wah pedal. (spring loaded is best if you set the pots correctly).

Ultimately, you'll benefit from a instrument interface (such as the synth.com module) that kicks a trigger/gate at a certain amplitude, or an envelope follower as present in a 101 or a 107.

Messing with a LFO to drive the filter will certainly give more bang.
