MIDI over USB question

Post by Kenneth » Mon May 25, 2009 1:38 pm

Is there any program out there that will allow me to record the sounds from my Little Phatty over a USB connection? If so, what are they called and what other features do they include?

yes it's called a USB audio interface, and there are a bunch of 'em. The only thing is, the only place sound comes out of the LP is the audio outputs (analog) - there is no digital audio coming from the LP USB connection, which is only used for MIDI. So a USB audio interface is like an external sound card for your computer, which converts analog audio from the outside world into digital audio for your computer. If you're interested in making music on your computer, a good audio interface is essential.

Do a search for USB Audio interface and you'll find lots of them. There's probably one out there with a good balance of features for your budget.

Cheers,

Amos
