I've got wood! (now with more finished pics)
That sounds cool! Doesn't seem like it would cost all that much to do...just get one of those blue LED LP's from Musician's Friend or Music 1 2 3, and have synthwood make the sides out of an affordable wood, like ash, or something. Then, send the unfinished sides to Moog for painting. Shouldn't cost you much more than the cost of a regular Phatty.slabwax wrote:I so want electric blue type side panels. Even better! Yeah, light swaps are expensive...especially if ALL of them will be blue. That's like, what, 200 LED's? Plus labor, plus wood? That'll be almost as much as a second Phatty! Not that there's anything wrong with that. As long as it looks cool.slabwax wrote:I have a LP it's the blue LED lights I need. I've talked to Amos regarding swapping out the lights and it's doable. All I need is a little spare cash.

Well, I've ALMOST got wood...I saw my side panels today prior to being completed. It'll be a while before they are done, but they look awesome so far. The wood I chose was coco bolo, with a very heavy grain. Looks really good, will look even better when complete. I'm getting the back of the left side routed out to accomodate the metal piece that will act as the jack panel, and the inlay needs to be completed on both pieces, then they'll be finished with a satin texture. All for the low price of $60 per side!
I love my coworkers.

I am happy now...with this piece of gear anyway. Nothing left to customize, I don't think.

Yeah...the logo is backwards on the right panel, but I almost like it better that way...makes more sense in my twisted mind. Those logos are brass, with a silicone protectant so they won't patina as time goes on. I have this ability to visualize how stuff will look before it actually gets completed, so I knew how the logos would look on there.nikola wrote:wow! i always thought moog logo was missing on a hand made wood side panels.
this is just perfect !
