LP + Prophet 08, well a whole EP this time

Post by Khoral » Tue Feb 10, 2009 3:48 am

It's called "Broken Sails (Life in a Sinking Ship)" and the whole zip with complete CD artwork is here : http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?wdi1rjy2jnb

Thematically, "Broken Sails" is about XIXth sea travel... not really a concept album, but it's subtitled "Life in a sinking ship" because that's pretty much what the songs are all about... a dark, intense trip to India, set on a broken ship...

It was essentially done with the Prophet 08 for the pads, and the Moog, well, whenever you hear bass and leads, that's the Moog Little Phatty...
(The strings on "The Fortune Song" are Gforce Virtual String Machine and there's some Roland Alpha Juno-1 as well on the instrumental parts for this track. The opening chords on "Empty the Boat" are Korg Wavestation.)

Give me feedback if you liked it!

That's odd, I just tried, and it worked
Probably a temporary bug

I really liked the theme in the content and the artwork. Very nice conception/production.

Are you a leonard cohen fan?

Great stuff!

Thanks guys
Indeed I am a long time Cohen fan... actually I use a lot of synthesizers but my roots are really classical... Tim Buckley, Nick Drake, Beatles, Kinks, and then Peter Gabriel, Bowie, etc...
I had a big drum and bass/electronica obsession in the late 90's, early 00's, but synth-wise, I prefer old timey cheezy 70's stuff
Last record I've bought is Dylan's "Tell tale signs" outtakes album
That's how in touch I am with current trends

Thanks

It's a huge Kontakt-powered database, with numerous old drum machines, but also good realistic samples and built-in effects
On this EP, I'm purposedly using very simple, 70's-like drum beats, with little variation
