Weird LCD Behaviour

Post by T7 » Wed Dec 24, 2008 6:40 pm

Brand new LP II, arrived today. Right out of the box, the LCD has dark phantom characters in the blank spaces between actual characters that change along with the actual characters. It almost looks like LCD burn-in. :?

Also, anyone else get an LP II with a greenish black anodized extrusion instead of plain black?

I just got my LP today, and it is a little dark between characters; like it was burned into the screen.

Mine has what appear to be actual letters/numbers being dispayed where there should be blank spaces. And they change when a patch is changed. They're a few shades lighter than the characters that should be there, otherwise the display would be totally unreadable.

There are some dark pixels as I scroll through the patches, and some of them are dark enough to look a bit like letters, but it's still readable. *shrug*
I don't want to have to send my Moog in to have the whole screen replaced. :(

It seems there are some faulty units amongst the Stage II's..

Is there a LCD contrast adjustment in the LP II's menu ? I don't recall it in the TELP and I am not near it or the manual to check. Just a thought :), it could well be a faulty LCD :) It happens :) , none of us like it to but it happens :)

Um, I think that's obvious. Your point being? :?

Edit: Sorry to come off frustrated, but it seems I'm on my second faulty LP II in a row...as well as my third defective Waldorf Blofeld-the lettering rubbed off of three of these!...and third damaged or defective Eventide H8000FW-first two were damaged in shipping, third has non-functional AD/DA....Needless to say I've had it with poor quality control.

T7, where did you order the Stage II from? I'm thinking it may not be Moog's fault, but rather shoddy handling. :?

I can't imagine shoddy handling was the cause for a bad LCD. In any case it was packed quite well.

It's possible Moog got in a bunch of bad LCD's then. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I'm sure they'll come up with a solution. They always do. Good luck! :D

If that solution is a new LP II, great!

:) My point is that if you had not looked in the menu yet and if there was an adjustment try that... if there is no adjustment for LCD contrast in the menus then yes you could have a faulty LCD. There could be another adjustment for it that is not user accessible, I’d call Moog. Or yes, it could be a bad batch of LCD’s that have gone by un noticed. Like I said things happen and slip by even the best. I am sorry you and others are having problems but I am also sure it will be worked out.

Nope.
As in, nope, there is no LCD contrast adjustment available in the LP menus. I RTFM before I post. ;)

Same thing here - just got mine today and it looks like an LCD contrast issue. Hopefully it's adjustable but mine isn't so horrible that I can't live with it.
