Tribute Editions available?

Post by EricK » Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:42 am

If one came across a Tribute Edition, can we have it upgraded to a Stage II and still keep the wooden panels?

Im tempted to get an LP to replace my Micro until I can afford the Voyager....just throwing ideas around?

No. To upgrade to Stage II you have to replace the wooden panels.

Just kidding ...

There has been some talk about upgrade kits, but it's not cleare how that would be arranged. You have to change some hardware to get the same capacity on a TE as on a SEII.
There are some old threads about the subject. Scan the forum.

from what i can see the USB upgrade isnt available for the TE tho the other functions can be done with a memory and OS upgrade.

On the other hand, that's a minor problem. You can always use a midi-usb adapter. Works perfectly for me ...

There are always a few TE LP's available on ebay at any given time, unless your a collector or find a good deal, with all the improvements and upgrades, the LP SE II would appear be the best bet for your $$, plus you don't have to wait or have to ship your synth back to Moog to get any hardware upgrades installed. Whatever you choose i'm sure you'll enjoy !

I recently sold my TE in order to save towards a Voyager. The Phatty is a great synth in it's own right but it's definitely not a substitute for the Voyager (nor was it intended to be).

My advice would be to continue to save up for the Voyager if that's the synth you really want.

My 2 cents.
