something more abrasive..

both these demos were recorded with an LP handling bass duties,
with some strings and other weirdness from a Korg ms2000,

(and of course a guitarist shredding, a drummer blasting and a dude screaching ;)

The sequenced part and the vocoders are Little Phatty. The drone is my microKorg and the drums are the Studio Montreal set that comes with Ableton. I also added the 909 clap for good measure.

EDIT: I tried something to make the vocals more intelligible.
the vocoder is the phatty?
you use the input and filter?
can you tell us? it's very nice

My guess is that it's all filter and the fact that he is controlling Gate (env) from the keyboard so gets that stuttering effect. Unfortunately, the Phatty doesn't have the circuitry or firmware to tweak incoming audio to the extent that frequency is normalized to match that of the key being played. The last passage sounds as if he's singing through an octave pedal (voice is doubled) or maybe just a very low frequency bass tone matching the octave or two below the vocal.

Anyway you slice it, nice track and good control on the vocal. Looking fwd to the explanation on how you did it. (irony is that Christopher has a Radias which has a really good Vocoder built in but much respect for 'building' his own.)

This is my first attempt at using Ableton with my LP. I really like Ableton, but I think I might start using it as a slave to Pro Tools and not just stand alone. It's great as an instrument/sequencer/effects rack, but as a DAW. I think it lacks quite a bit. Anyway, critique for critique. :) It's not exactly the most exciting song, but I was going for a Tangerine Dream/Kraftwerk feel.

I also posted one that utilized CV output from Ableton into the filter and pitch CV inputs on the LP. I used a drum part as the rhythmic CV. I love the movement it gives bass lines.

CV-inputs are a lot fun! :)

Well, after a tough time, I got down to do some dub business again with my SP and my Carbon Copy pedal again. This time, I have sent through all the drum samples through my SP with some OL+Filter on too. Never been as satisfied with any bottomend before. :D For those who are into Kode 9's music or any similar along these lines might dig it. The speech comes from a passed actor performing a radio-play based on a Stanislaw Lem novel. Too much explanation, enjoy! :)

A lot of people ask why keep a Little Phatty if you have a Voyager. Because the LP can do stuff the Voyager cannot!! This tune features both instruments, both get a go at lead, although only the LP for the bass. See for yourself :)

It's a pretty silly song actually... my mum gave me a record player for my birthday so I immediately decided to make a tune out of it.
-Enjoy :) :) :)

p.s. I'm doing an animated clip for this one.

I guess this has become a "post your tracks with Phatty on it" thread, so here's mine. All synth sounds except for the pad sound are from the Slim Phatty. Drum sounds are all GoldBaby samples (I figure he deserves the recognition). I hope you enjoy it.

Hi there guys! Just finished a new one:

http://soundcloud.com/point-source/100- ... slow-drift

Sounding really sweet, great to close your eyes and drift away.

8 chanels of the Slim Phatty used, only used Ableton's sequencer and effects.

Hope u all enjoy!

The file was kind of large to upload the wav (86mb), and i converted to 320kbps mp3. If anyone wants WAV just give me a shout and i'll upload.
