Mine is a two part question. I'm new to the world of synthesizers, especially analog. The gear I own I have a pretty good handle on (Moog LP, Moog Murf, Moog CP-251) and I was wondering a) if there were any reccomendations on the next piece of equipment I purchase and b) if anyone had any tips on processing audio through the input of the Little Phatty, as my efforts have been fruitless so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried playing the keyboard while audio is being fed into your LP? You need to open the envelope gates to let any signal through.

You could go far with the MF-102 Ring Modulator.

It would add like 10,000,000 MORE tones/texture/timber to the sound of the Lil Phatty.

It wouuld also add another switchable LFO for the LP that you could run into the MIXER section of the CP-251 wiith maybe the CP-251's LFO,S&H,Noise,etc... OR run it in the audio range for some FM sounds.

if you can get your hands on a cv-midi converter, wait til the 107 comes out, and you'll have a minimoog, more or less.

i agree with the mf-102 suggestion.. it's so far the greatest fooger on many levels, as it has an osc and an lfo available for modulation duties, as well as a purpose an an effects unit.

i suspect the 107 will be very close in greatness to the 102, and definitely well worth the price tag.

I ment switching between the Sine and Square waveforms on the MF-102.

Also as far as a Polyphonic synth you can get a lot more going the modular route. I have a MOTM (Synth Tech) system. I would take up a lot less space and if you went with a Doepher/Blacet system it would get smaller. Cheaper too.

The MF-102 is a ring modulator. Ring Modulation outputs the sum and difference of two signals. A full explanation can be found at:

Oh I'm sorry for not being clear, I was asking about the Midi to poly CV module.

A midi to CV is a module that converts midi data into control voltages. Any analog gear needs specific voltages to function. Digital synths calculate everything according to formulas and then just convert the digital result into an analog output. Midi is just digital data, sending information such as pitch, gate, control values, etc. In order to control analog gear from midi sources you need to convert the data into voltages. The midi to poly CV from MOTM allows you to convert up to four different midi channels into control voltages, so you can control 4 analog synths at once.

To expand on what Robles is saying about the MOTM 650...

It could control the pitch of 4 different VCO's
4 gates(to trigger the envelope for 4 VCAs)
Velocity for each of the 4 "voices"
And one more that you can assign for 4 filters, gates, mod wheels, delay rates...what ever you can think of.

I use my Voyager to control my modular as well as for it's fantastic sound.

Modular synths are SO MUCH FUN and better than ever. This is the new golden age of modular synthesis.
