Random mode on Sub 37 sequencer

No "random mode" but the editor software can already do this. You can randomize the preset and the sequencer separately.

Hi ziggomatic,

Part of the fun of "real" synthesis (at least for me) is finding ways to combine the tools that you do have to simulate a feature that you don't have.

I know this isn't the exact solution you were looking for, but here's a workaround that will give you similar results:

Plug a Footswitch pedal into the KB GATE INPUT jack on the side of the Sub 37.

Go to the GLOBAL mode and CURSOR DOWN to the CV MAPPING >>> sub menu.

Press the CURSOR button to enter CV MAPPING.

Set the GATE: parameter to SUST PED (at end of list).

Chose the correct value for GATE INVERT: so that your sustain pedal works as expected.

Set the front panel PATTERN knob to RND.

Light the ARPEGGIATOR ON button, but don't light the LATCH button (yet).

Use the KB OCTAVE buttons to find the lowest note you'd want in the sequence.

Now, with ARP ON, LATCH OFF, and the Sus pedal pressed, play the lowest note that would have been in your sequence.

While still holding the Sus pedal, individually press all of the notes from your sequence (using the KB OCTAVE buttons for way higher notes).

You'll now hear all of your notes randomized. When you have them all, light the LATCH button which will keep all of your notes going after you let off of the Sus pedal.

Again, not exactly what you wanted, but the end result will be very similar.

This is also a very cool trick for adding notes to an already LATCHed arpeggiation. While the arp is playing, press the Sus pedal and turn off LATCH. Now you can add more notes. When done, turn LATCH back on and let go of Sus pedal.

I fully agree that a RANDOM mode for Sub 37 Sequences would be a very useful feature!
