My Slim Phatty shows up in DAWs. But no MIDI shows up at the Slim.
All the obvious checked. Routing properly setup. DAW (Ableton) actually sees the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT device of the Slim.
MIDI into a track is routed to the "Slim Phatty". All MIDI Channel 1.
No MIDI data arrives at the Slim.
MIDI DIN works fine.

If it's a USB Firmware issue...
Where can I download the latest USB Firmware Update for my Slim Phatty. I've seen talk about v34, and v31.

Sounds like you might need to set the MIDI input source on the Slim Phatty -
It's selected under the "MIDI SETUP" global menu setting.

Should be on page 32 of the owners' manual...

USB Cable Attached / Power On:
MIDI SETUP / MIDI IN: DIN/USB
MIDI SETUP / MIDI OUT: DIN/USB
