The reset and synced oscillator when using hard sync.

Post by Remedial » Mon Apr 02, 2012 11:39 pm

Okay, so page 13 of the manual says that the hard sync effect can be heard when the synced oscillator is at a higher frequency than the reset oscillator and the main frequency heard is that of the reset oscillator. Now, exactly which oscillator is which? It would have been pretty great if the manual had simply added a sentence stating that oscillator one is the synced osc while oscillator 2 is the reset oscillator, which is what I'm guessing is the case (if the setup follows how oscillator sync is traditionally laid out), rather than introducing two new terms and not properly explaining them.

Thanks beforehand.

Hi,

Oscillator 2 is synced to osc 1.
That means that osc 1 is the reset osc, and osc 2 is the sync osc.

So if osc sync is "on" osc 2 attains the pitch of osc 1. If you adjust the pitch of osc 2 you get a change in overtone spectrum.

Hope this helps.

Osc 2 is synced with osc 1.
Set osc 2 to a higher pitch than osc 1.

Sometimes, for bass sounds, I like tuning the sync'd osc lower than osc1

There's a legend under the Sync button on the Phatty panel: 1>2
