Hi. I know this sounds like a noody question but I sort of need to know this.
Can you control the pitch of the Slim Phatty with a freq box? I am thinking about getting a Slim Phatty but I would like to use a bass guitar to control it VS a keyboard so I was wondering if this would work as I already have a freq box. I not saying that this is the only way I plan to use it, it just would be nice some times. Thanks!

Re: Freq box to control pitch???
Nope. The Freqbox does not convert pitch to CV. It just does hard sync, it doesn't track pitch at all. It's a common misconception about the MF-107 that most people have.
Gear: Moog LP, Gibson LP, lots of FX

I see... well now I know.. I thought there might be a way but.. oh well... Thanks anyway.

Re: Freq box to control pitch???
There is a small pitch to MIDI converter that may do what you're looking for:

I've never tried one though. And a couple of modular things do this, for instance Analogue Systems makes a pitch to CV converter. I've always been interested in things like that, but every demo I hear sounds pretty bad. I'm just not convinced it is as cool in practice as it is in theory.

Yeah, I know, I've looked at them all. I even have a roland bass midi pickup and I see it as a waste of money and time... You'd think there would be a easy cheap solution to this by now.

This always makes me wonder why no one makes a CV controller based on the Theremin Cello ...

Bob actually had one in his garage. It should be on display when the museum opens up.

A old Theremin one or did he actually make one into a controller and if soEricK wrote:Bob actually had one in his garage. It should be on display when the museum opens up.

Re: Freq box to control pitch???
I got one of those when they first came out and it's a surprisingly handy little device. Since bass notes are slow frequencies they recommend playing higher notes (faster pitch, faster pitch recognition) and transposing down on the synth.soundxplorer wrote:There is a small pitch to MIDI converter that may do what you're looking for:

I've never tried one though.
