where is the poly stacked SP video/demo?

Post by anoteoftruth » Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:06 pm

C'mon.... you guys said you'd try to put something back in October...

You even had it all set up at NAMM...

But I can't find a video or demo of how they sound stacked together, ANYWHERE....

oh man - Katsunori Ujiie is da master of demos! check out all of his videos on youtube. he demos nearly every analog synth you can think of and he takes requests, too.

you HAVE to watch the demo he does for the yamaha cs series - it's so awesome! http://www.youtube.com/user/musictrackj ... V7pdqgLqdM

we need to get him to do an all Moog demo using Mini, Phattys, Foogers, the Moog Guitar.... (taurus 3) http://www.youtube.com/user/musictrackj ... X46b81rJ1A

Just saw this today and it blew my mind.. sounds way better than I expected.... I know I need this now.... kinda perplexed as to why Moog never wanted to make their own demos and market it this way.... but, so glad this guy did..... love all his videos.

I played it at NAMM- the videos don't quite do it justice.

Now, how about a Really Slim Phatty expander module- Slim Phatty guts, 1 rack unit, no knobs or display, to be controlled by a Little or Slim Phatty? Even if it were only $100 cheaper than the Slim Phatty, we would be talking $2600 or so for a 4 voice Moog. Srsly.

Can somebody explain EXACTLY how they have those SP's chained together and what operating configuration is used???

I'm curious if a Voyager, T3, and an SP or two could be controlled via the Voyager keyboard to obtain that result.
Voyager EB #165, T3 #292, MF-101, 102, 103, 104SD, 2x104MSD, 105M, 107, 108M, MP-201, VX-351, CP-251, Frostwave Fat Controller.

@ c7sus

There is a feature in LP/SP called "POLY MODE". This would be in the MIDI Setup section of the master menu. Normally it is OFF, but you can select the number of voices in your system (in the Japanese video there were 4) and which voice number each particular unit is (i.e. 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, 4 of 4). In the video - MIDI out from the LP goes to the MIDI in of the first unit, then MIDI THRU to the next and so on (One of the reasons MIDI THRU was added to the product). In addition to this setting, the Auto-fine tune function is enabled on each of the instruments - you get best results if you let all the instruments warm up together before playing. Also, Local Control is turned OFF on the SPs just so you do all your controlling from the main LP - it makes the different voices sound the same as you edit or change sounds on the LP.

You don't NEED the LP to control the SPs, as any MIDI controller will work - it just reduces the # of voices in the system if you don't use an LP.
A Voyager can be configured the same way but the voices won't match if used w/ an LP or SP.

Hope this answers your question.
