Bill Bailey (UK Thereminist) on UK Radio programme

Post by mee3d » Thu Oct 21, 2004 7:10 pm

Today there was a radio programme on the UK BBC Radio 4 about the history of the Theremin by the popular UK comedian and musician Bill Bailey.

Go to this link and look for "Good Vibrations" (under 'G' Doh!) were you can stream the radio show via Real player. Worth a listen . . Bob's in there as well.

I thought it weas a good 'potted history' but needed to be twice as long. A bit dismayed to hear that Bill, genius that he is, just uses the 'min to make wacky noises rather than a truly musical sound. What did you think Mal?

Well, i wasn't aware that Bill played seriously . . . i have seen him play and he is very good but his comedic charms seem to dominate everything he does . . so I can understand how he could use some of this great kit like a toy.

With regards the interview . . it was OK. Most synth muso's would know all about it already but it probably was just enough to educate the demographics it was aiming for . . and there are quite a few good resources out there on Leon and his life.

Hey . . just came back from a romantic week in NYC . . and "Angels in the sky" was top of my iPod playlist . . thanks for that!

There's a remix due out shortly by Retarded Funk, who came up with the Winwood idea for Eric Prydz!!
