Yet another newbie!

Post by Raputtak » Wed Oct 04, 2017 11:13 am

I have just bought a Theremini! It arrived yesterday.

Setup was straightforward. I use headphones to spare the household.

Playing is not quite so straightforward! I have checked a few "How to's" on Youtube.

I am starting off practicing major scales. The Pitch correction at almost maximum helps. I guess I am learning the right-hand movements that work best for me. I am not messing with the volume yet.

I find I tend to sway a little when playing. This affects the pitch.

Any tips for a beginner?

I watched a video of Pamela Kurstin talking about Theremin

She said when people offer her drinks at a gig she always has to refuse as any slight swaying ruins her playing. So I take from that you can't sway at all

look up Kip Rosser (kiprosser.com) he has whole series of tutorials for theremin which I'm working through - Ok he plays Theremin not theremini but set your pitch correction to 0 and its the same
