User definable scales for Theremini

Post by cliff d - UK » Mon May 11, 2015 11:53 am

I read an article in "Sound on Sound " Magazine that said user definable scales were in the pipeline for the Theremini as a future update - I so hope this is true! :D

This was an early request of mine as well. This would be a really useful feature, especially if the user scale could be updated (redefined) on the fly via Midi. This would give you complete control over note availability, in conjunction with the quantization.

I'm currently using a Midi pedal (PMC 10) to freely switch scales and base note tuning to accomplish some limited aspects of this...being able define just certain notes in the "scale" would be a powerful key!

I think the guys at Moog have done some incredible stuff with the firmware so far, and look forward to even more development in the future.

If you're using an IPad, check out Midisequencer, which lets you sequence Midi CCs. Really powerful when used with the Theremini.
