Theremin and Water Color

Post by Hutschi » Tue Apr 05, 2005 9:50 am

Hi,

I have it now, the Etherwave Theremin Kit. It is my second Theremin after a pitch-only one, I build half a year ago.

After my wife approved it, I could order it, and after 4 days including ordering, payment and shipping, it arrived.

I read the manual: do not use color which will conduct electricity.

I proved the color, it was ok.

I colorised the case and it looked good. But it was water color.

The next day I started to screw and to solder. When I was ready, I switched it on. Nothing. Shrek!

I removed the top and it started to give a sound.

My wife said: Wait until it dried fully. I said: It dried already.

It was late, and I thought: O - I used the wrong color, Mist (a German word). They warned me. How can I get a new case.

The next day, I tried it again.

And now it worked - my wife was right.

So listen: If you colorize the case, give it enough time to dry.

Now I started to work with it in every free minute.

(Christiane informed the neighbors, but I reduced the volume to avoid anger.)

On the first day, it was frustrating. No melody, no reproducable tone.

Now I learnt to play simple melodies. It is really a fascinating device.

Best regards
bernd

And it works good.
