MF-104z Noise

Post by willi » Thu Dec 03, 2009 4:36 pm

Hi

I've noticed that my MF-104z causes some fairly noticeable noise when the mix is at 5. There is no noise added when the Mix pot is at 0 or 10. Do other people have this issue or does my pedal need service?

Thanks

Mine is only noisy on looong delays/decays. (BBD artifacts)You might make sure you are setting the drive correctly. It can make a lot of noise if overdriven.

I have the 101, 102, 103 and the delay. When I plug all four in the delay is the only pedal that makes an audible hum; even when bypassed. Even when watching the output levels and drive knobs. Kind of annoying, especially as it was the most expensive of the four...

I generally use them for guitar, but also as aux sends.

I went back to the store with it but they didn't have a guitar on hand, used a Rhodes into their mixer/monitors to test it on and it wasn't any noisier than the other 104z's in that setup.

The effect is awesome but the noise in bypass makes me less than keen to plug the unit in.

I was having this issue recently too. See, Im using a power strip and I have the 107, 103, 104 in the power strip with the cp251 and theVoyager in the outlet. I think I also had an amp hooked up. Now I got the noise but I isolated the source to a specific cable I was using because I thought that it was just that I had too much plugged in. I removed the cable and presto the noise was gone. I did experience the noise in bypass mode and none of the controls except drive affected it.

HOpe you get yours taken care of it is an invaluable effect once you get it.
Ill run a marathon through the delay.

What kind of cable was causing your issue in the end? e.g. power, 1/4", TS, TRS, brand? I've used so many cables and arrangements that I don't really think it's down to this problem but I'm interested in any information I can get.

Thanks.
