New Moog YouTube Video - Rhythmic Filter Modulation

Post by moogmusic » Fri May 15, 2009 12:56 am

We just posted a new video to the Moog YouTube Channel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W868tnYADDk

It shows how to use an MF-101 and a Voyager (and more) for a new (old) way of creating tempo-synced modulations in a Dance Music setting.

Enjoy...

What are you using as a sequencer in that vid?

Not really using a sequencer. Just a drum track. No MIDI was used in this demo. I could have (and probably should have) done it with an Old School instead of a Voyager.

Great video! I tried it last night. I don't have a Voyager, yet! But I have a A.S. Red Square modular. I used a AdrenaLinn ll for the drum signal into the MF-101. Its the first time I was able to use ENV OUT with any success! Thanks!

Moog should do more videos like this!

I agree. The MF-101 is the only moogerfooger I don't have (well, and a bass MuRF) but that was really cool. There are some really cool functions having an extra filter in my Moog setup would facilitate. I hope to see more videos like this one.

Super simple and super fun. Thanks Moog guys. I tried this with both the LPF and the env out on the Freq Box with fairly similar results.

Beyond what was done in the video, if you have a CP-251 and an LPF, then you can use the drum signal to trigger new S&H CV values in tempo with the drum signal. That's a really useful CV signal to have, I think.

That sounds like a great application. I'll give that a try next time I'm at my keyboards.

It'd be great to see some videos of how you all are using these techniques. If you post anything let us know.

We just uploaded a quick, new song to our MySpace page. www.myspace.com/moogmusicinc

The Song, "Code Two" is another example of this MF-101 technique. In it, the EGR OUT CV is routed to a Voyager, Little Phatty and to the Cutoff In of another MF-101 that is filtering a ROMpler.
