How about some favorite phaser settings

Post by Bub » Wed Mar 31, 2004 9:06 am

My phaser just came yesterday!! I spent hours last night playing my Strat through it. . . i was wondering if anyone had some tried and true fooger recipies for someone pretty new to all of this analog goodness. . .

what are some favorite settings?

My favourite settings for some picking phaser funk.
Amount - 12oclock to max
rate (low) - 12 oclock to 3 oclock
Sweep - min to 12 oclock
6 stage
Resonace - min to 12 oclock

Usually my phaser is set within these settings for a really 70's funk vibe. I haven't found a use from the 12 stage setting. I think I'd rather be able to switch between 4 and 6 rather than 6 and 12.

amount: Kill
rate: 28
(lower setting on the rocker switch)
Sweep: 8
stage: 12
resonance: just below 2

On Guitar with distortion for a 70's rock thing, or without for a nice swirl.

Be sure to try a Fuzz or Distortion INTO the phaser; this gives it lots of harmonics to filter - sounds amazing.

One idea to try - set the rate as high as it will go. Then adjust the Sweep or Range controls with your hand or a CV pedal. Not the typical up/down of the LFO, but more like the world's thickest Wah Wah!
