MF-104z noise issue

Post by rumori » Wed Sep 09, 2020 12:48 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm having noise issues with my Moogerfooger delay pedal and recorded some examples in hope of finding someone who fixed similar issues with this pedal.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/bf7dyvhzt414h ... BDelay.aif

One is my Voyager dry the other is going through the Delay with mix turned fully wet, different delay time and feedback settings.

The noise is only present in the delay path, when a signal is present.

I sometime also have the other problem when the delay completely disappears, but that is mostly fixed by disassembling and wiggling the daughter card part a bit and make sure it's isolated from the chassis.

Any tips on the above issue, where should I look, or is this something more complicated to fix?

IF there is a previous topic discussing the issue, please kindly send a link, I used the search but didn't find anything fully similar.

Thanks.

Answering my own question:

I did some further investigation with all my Moogerfoogers and found that I was using different power adapters for each and found what I used for the delay was an aftermarket one with different voltage.
I was blindly assuming all of them were the same, but it turns out the noise issue was gone once I plugged in an official Moog one.

Moral of the story:
Use proper power adapters based on Moog's spec, better yet just buy it from them if in doubt.
