I am racking 2 x CP-251 in the moog rack kit. I have the newer CP-251 with no power socket on the back. This kind of screws me up as using the one on the top it won't fit in my rack.
I could move the power socket to the rear to the holes on the rack kit, bit that looks super fiddly and I just know I'd mess it up.
My problem is solved if I can use the daisy chain cable included in the rack kit as I have space above on of the CP-251 in my rack. But can I do this?
So this is my question:
Is it OK to daisychain 2 x CP-251 with the included cable? The instructions only describe daisy chaining CP-251 and VX-351, which have different power requirements I believe.

Both my CP251 powered by power supplies.Spazige wrote:Is it OK to daisychain 2 x CP-251 with the included cable?
When I powered the CP251 from VX351 by this wire, CP251 appeared high frequency tone, like a squeak.

Thanks for the response. I will have to think of another solution then I think. Probably relocating the power socket to the back. Oh well.

relocating the switch is easy. Just be gentle during disassembly, and you'll be fine. If you're really worried about it, you can mail it to me and I'll do it for you. It takes 2 minutes. I've done it probably a dozen times over the last few years as I've rearranged my setup.

I should have read this before mounting my only CP251 on an official Moog rack. The instructions are really a joke. None of the poor quality b/w pictures looked as from the real world (not the rack, not the CP251 when opened). The instructions cover a joint mount of the CP and a VX. At the end, almost as a parenthesis, it then says: Oh, if you only mount a CP or two CPs, put the power supply to the back. No instructions. I managed, but it was a bit difficult to fasten the pins while at the same time closing things up.jsharpphoto wrote:relocating the switch is easy. PS: But it IS beautiful to get the power in the back.
PSPS: The "Assembly Diagram" for the bigger MF rack mount kit is rather "rudimentary" as well. You gotta guess (as with the CP) that those four round, black thingies should be used to compensate the MF for the wooden ears.
PSPSPS: And if you were planning on setting up four CP/VX in the big rack mount kit, you would get no info on the relocation of the power socket.
