Running Two MF-104m's Together
Running Two MF-104m's Together
I love some of the huge and lush sounds of the Eventide Timefactor, a big part of which is it's dual delay engine. Have any of you ever tried running two MF-104m's together either in series or parallel?

I don't have two 104-M's though I'm commonly seen running my 104Z into my 104M...
It's nice, though not as spectacular as running two 103's in series.

Once upon a time I owned the 104z and original 104SD together. I used them in all types of configuration and loved them. I sold both to raise money for my Moog Guitar. I used them on this session track for another artist: https://soundcloud.com/mrpixie/jobs-abyss
I acquired a 104m in 2013 and used it off and on with my Way Huge Supa-Puss and EHX Deluxe Memory Man 1100 Tap Tempo. Then I sold both it and the Supa-Puss.

This last summer I got a 104M-SD and used it quite a bit with my EHX Deluxe Memory Man 1100 w/ Tap Tempo.

I think those last two had an unmistakable affinity, but the fact that I made about 200% profit when I sold the EHX was too much temptation to resist especially with being Moog Rich and House Poor. I am keeping the MF104M-SD and wouldn't mind another if it were the will of fate to grant me one. However, if I can get my hands on an excellent digital delay like the Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe or something of that ilk, I think it would make a nice complement. The EHX DMM1100 w/TT was BRIGHT(!!!!) to Noisy Darkish, The 104Z was pretty nice and bright to somewhat dark, the 104M was kinda bright, to quite dark, the 104MSD from sparkly yet darkish-bright to pretty damn dark, but as far as I experienced there was none more dark than the original 104SD.

I have two 104m delays. I usually use then in stereo but running one into the other sounds pretty amazing too, particularly when they are mimicking chorus sounds
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step

It would be interesting running two 104Ms in stereo and using some kinda midi controller to make them act the same. That would sound nice.

Re: Running Two MF-104m's Together
It does but most of the time I prefer them to be free range. I can change that with a flip of a switch. They are fantastic instruments I wouldn't mind having two more...my bank account on the other hand...

Re: Running Two MF-104m's Together
Thx for the input. I'm going to try and demo a cluster flux and two MF-104m's (too bad there aren't any SD's available) in series together in my amps FX loop along with my spring reverb to see if I can pull off some big sounds like I've heard with the Eventide Eclipse. Another benefit of going Moog is being all analog and having a knob for each parameter for on-the-fly improv, but I won't know if this setup will get me close to where I want to go until I give it a try.

Re: Running Two MF-104m's Together
It's pretty different sounding from eventide stuff, something I have also become very intrigued by lately. The eventide is definitely more precise and bright, moog is more wobbly and dark.
