mf 104z problems - again

Post by stephan_p » Fri Aug 01, 2014 8:50 am

like many 104z owners i had / have that problem:
i only get a few repeats even on maximum feedback...
years ago i sent the unit to my dealer here in germany, they couldn´t find
any problem. it worked very well since then, from time to time the
problem occured again but i could live with that.
that thing was discussed here many times so i finally opened the
unit to isolate the pins, so they can´t touch the face-plate.
but i couldn´t find any touching parts.
i tested the delay again. first it was even worse. when activating the delay only
a loud hum appeared. after doing nothing ? it has the same behaviour like before.
still no feedback. when using the external loop (i just connected loop out loop in)
everything seems fine.
any ideas ?
no warranty left, sending the thing to moog is no option either.

o.k., i found the solution myself:
i just pushed the little daughterboard back to the mainboard.
i think the glue expanded and disconnected something (just the opposite i was searching for)
everything´s fine again. if it happens again, i´ll just remove the glue i think...

interesting detail: while having no idea what i´m doing the results with the effect activated have been:
- no sound at all, just a loud hum
- only a few repeats, very bad sounding
- only a few repeats, normal sound
- like 8 or 9 repeats but no feedback
- finally perfect working again (i nearlly forgot how much i love that pedal)

maybe that´s helpful for the one or other
