I know when I update stuff I almost always have to reduce the speed that things transfer at. When all else fails bring the speed way down. Don't know if you've tried that yet.

Cool! Yeah, I live in DF. I tried bringing it down to 25% of the original speed with the SysEx program, but it didn't have any effect. Thanks for trying!

Success! I used a friend's NI Machine to update it and it worked properly immediately. Really strange. Such a wonderful unit it was really frustrating not being able to use it!

Yeah! I know I went into total psycho-bitch mode when it didn't work initially. But I've never had something like that happen before. And there really shouldn't be a way you can brick something by updating it, even if temporarily. That's just ridiculous. But all is well that ends well. I'm happy in the end :D
