MF-104M, here I come!!

Post by Headphones » Wed Apr 24, 2013 5:11 am

I've been waiting for a MF104 since the Z got discontinued. I was crushed when they announced that they were running out of the bucket brigade chips, and I just couldn't imagine owning one, with my crappy job at the time, and it was too risky for me to even try to make payments on one with all the crud that I went through in the last year. Fast forward to today, and I'm finally getting out of debt, rebuilding my studio with a few odds and ends, (Akai S2000, Roland W-30, Korg EMX & ER-1 mk2) so my job was going to be paying me 3 paychecks for May. I finally saw my opportunity to grab my MF-104M. I won't have it until the 17th, but I can't wait to start building up some crazy dub around the unit. I'll probably sequence it with MIDI from my ER-1 mk2 for now, and may or may not sample the outcome in the W-30. (I haven't turned on the Akai yet, because I want to upgrade it much later with the multi-outs, and the effect card).

My next purchase would be the MF-108M, and then I'll either order a MF103 to have delays/chorus-flang/phase sorted at my fingertips, and probably by then it's time to get a CP251. I'm just happy my long dreamt of MF104M will be home soon, and the fun in sound mangling will begin.

Any interesting tricks or patches to try with just the 104/108, feel free to mention!

I posted this a long time ago. Yesterday I finally achieved my goal, and it would have happened sooner, had it not been for a apartment fire, and some other debts and a few pieces of gear I picked up before I spent the remainder of the layaway to finally bring it home. But man was it worth the wait. I now might have to get the mini-fooger delay unit as well. to see how they compliment eachother. But I think for now, I'll pay off some debt I'm in, and just wait until next year before I get more foogers.

Congrats! It is a very expensive pedal but well worth it I think. I have thought about selling it and getting 2 or 3 minifooger delays but we'll see. I got a really good deal on the 104m when I bought my voyager and I know if I missed having it there is probably no way I would be able to afford one for a long time. But having 3 analog delays in a row would be awesome.
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step

It's been a bumpy road since I picked this up, it had to go into pawn for over a year, but it's back, and here to stay. I've changed my plans on the MF103 & MF108 to focus instead on paying off my new purchase, a MF107. After that, a MF105m. After that, I can go back to my original plan of a MF103 & MF108. Or, get a CP251 after the MF105. Decisions, decisions!

Good luck with it (and the 107). I am dying to get the 104M, but I can't afford it at the moment. Maybe in a year - hope there will be one left somewhere. My normal dealer expects it to arrive again in January 2016 and at Euro 800 (this is equivalent of around $870 at the moment, so being European is definitely not an advantage when craving Moog products :( )
