POLL: Which Mooger would you "double up" on?

Post by Analog Tom » Wed Jul 25, 2012 11:09 pm

If you happened to own one each of all the currently available Moogerfoogers and you were going to add one more to the mix, which would you pick? :?:

Note: there are seven (7) "currently available" Moogerfoogers. Also, for simplicity's sake, let's limit the choice to Moogerfoogers (as opposed to controllers and other Moog gear).

104 with the cp 251 in close second.

Since the Foogers can handle any instrument, really you need more than one of several units. It's a bummer to have the 104 occupied and have an instrument that really needs delay.

I intend to buy a second MF-104M to cross the Feedback in stereo.
Its ability to sync makes this very interesting, and the MF I'd double.

But, like EricK, I also have to mention the CP-251 Control Processor.
He talked me into getting a second one a couple of years ago, and
I've never regretted it.

After that, I'd like to have a second MF-101 which, like my first one,
I would mod with a switch and an additional jack to allow external
audio to drive the envelope follower (instead of the Input signal).

This could create some rapid and dramatic stereo effects based on
what you fed externally to each envelope follower.

THe delay first. It's obviously the best. Doesnt matter which version either, but Z being the preferred one for me after having had all three. CP251 yes and no as a second, as I think the mf107 is highly under rated. LIke very under appreciated in the terms of a psuedo would be mini modular sense.

Having had two of each at one time(as in all of them at one time), I can say for fact the ones I couldnt care less about having multiples of are:101, 103, 108, and sometimes the 102. The 105 is cool in multiples, but highly unnecessary unless you trying to do weird wavy-lushy type of stuff.

If it means anything to anyone, I currently have 3 cp251's, 2 mf 107's and 3 mf 104z's. I only have one of each of the rest, except the mf104sd, and the mf104m, as I find them not useful or lacking.

I sold my duplicate 104Z and CP-251's. I've still got duplicate ring mods and phasers.

Dan,
Thanks. I'm glad I gave some good advice for once.

Just Me,
Did you sell your duplicate CP and 104 because you didn't like them or because you got a helluva modular to take over the functions?

Vasago, what a farm you have!!

I only have a FreqBox and a Delay plus a CP-251. I can see the point of doubling these ones -or any delay- as well as the Filter, but for the rest, unless it's for CV convenience, it makes less sense to me.

So I would say the CP is the most obvious for me. 104 and 107 follow closely to have either a second delay since it's a pity to have only one for so much love in the studio or for having a second oscillator hence more sound sources. What has been said.

But before that, I think I might add a 104M or a 105...

Delay hands down, two 101's or 102's would make nice stereo options though,... but 2 delays, 1 for each output of the voyager  glad I kept my Z

Yeah, sold the extra CP because the modular covered its functions. Sold the extra 104Z because truthfully, it is not my favorite delay. I keep one for the CV control, but the sound is too lofi for my taste. I have many other delays that are more pleasing to my ear.
The ring mod is one of the best I've ever used and the Phaser is also really nice and flexible. The FreqBox I still have was a mistake but I do use it for one song, so it stays. The MuRF is a wonderful pedal that I would like to get another of or a B version. Don't want the MIDI version.

I think it will most likely be a second 104. Probably a 104m. After that it would be a second 102 the only problem with that is I would then need to pick up a second 101. I use the two together all the time.

I try to run my digital synths through Moogerfoogers whenever possible.

I had 4 101s. Traded one for a Freqbox. At around the 1:30 mark, this video shows why (at least) two 101s are cool.

Two 102s is also nice. There are a couple of neat tricks you can do with them...

I have a MuRF and a MIDI MuRF also.

I want 2 102's, 103's, and 104M's. I also want a Bentley Continental GT. I'll probably bite the bullet on the 102, 103 and two 104M's, but the car can wait.
