Someone has to say this sooner or later.

The 104M does not make the 104Z or the 104SD any less valuable. To those considering changing their current non MIDI delay into one with MIDI expect to get the correct value for your pedal, as you are selling a collectible, discontinued item, whose value is still high. $400 is way too low for a mint shape 104Z, most of us paid over $700 for it new. You will probably kick yourself in a few years, because, to many people it is still worth $700 - anyone who wants one for less is trying to take advantage of some doubt in the market.

But hey, if you "have to" have MIDI, I'm not you, so go ahead, sell them for a buck. Mine is worth MUCH more to me.

To be clear, I am thinking of changing mine into A MIDI version, but not at a loss of 50% - especially when I could have both!!!

The 104m is superior to the 104z in almost every way. You are deluding yourself if you think that the 104z is going to maintain its inflated value on the used market. I am sure that someday prices will recover, we are talking about a limited production item with a legendary reputation after-all. For the time being though, the price will drop and stay down at least until the 104m is out of production.

That's like saying the RE-501, which had many circuit improvements and even added Chorus, makes the RE-201 inferior in every way. I think you'd have a hard time convincing many people of that. Plus, doesn't the 104M have a shorter (<1s) max delay time? There's something :)

if you want a MF-104M Novamusik can do up to 15% off a 104M on preorder -- $600-$649 depending on your customer profile with them
So lets say most here will qualify for the full 15% discount you get the 104M for $600

Exactly. "Superior" is in the eye of the beholder.

Not having MIDI control in the 104Z has not limited it's ability, and application to creativity to it. The M has a couple extra features that in the hands of a skilled musician make some things a little easier... Most synth players would have already figured out some of these tricks via MIDI to CV. For a guitar player, some of the new features are "necessary" for live performance reproduction. For the more open minded, these features are fun to have, but not necessary.

Don't get me wrong - the 104M is a great addition to the delay world, I'm by no means bashing it, but it also takes nothing away from what the Z / SD are.

Good luck to you and your $400 - hopefully you get a MOOG delay, we all deserve one! In the meantime I suggest you keep saving.

i'll chime in to say that not having both could be a set back. I have 2 mf104z's and I am buying the 104m. The reason being is the 104m has utility(LFO+midi). It will do different things. Similar yes, but it's more of a utility delay, than just a straight up delay.

The value of mf104z/104sd will not go down at all in the long run, and anyone considering selling theirs off cheap b/c they fear it to, please pm me.

Come back in six months when the hype has disappeared. But to be fair, if you want a cheap one, now is the time to act while everyone is "ooo'ing" and "aww'ing," while pointlessly acting impulsively. The few who liquidate their mf104z's now, will regret it later. They will still only be "x" amount of any of the versions available.

In the long run, they'll be worth the same, and equally as hard to get.
