New MF 103
New MF 103
Hey whats up guys. Just picked up a new 103 to pair up with my delay, I was wondering what is the best way to set them up. I would say the phaser should be first and then the delay after because I would want to delay everything, but then what if i wanted to phase the delay? was just curious what everyone thinks about this and if someone had any cool effects to set up between them. I tried the set ups in manuel and they were pretty cool and so any other help would be cool. thanks
Re: New MF 103
I like putting a stereo effect after the delay in the audio chain. This way each delay, as well as whatever dry part of the signal is still getting phased, but you can seperate the L and R for a nice effect. This works especially winderfully with the Murf.

Re: New MF 103
i am constantly rearranging the fooger order. i just make sure my patch cables are long enough to reach over all my pedals so i just move the cables instead of all the foogers. either way its going to sound amazing. like erick said, if you're using stereo, phaser should be at the end... or buy another delay.... i wish all the mfs had stereo in/out, it would make things so much easier.... and probably a lot more expensive...
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step
Re: New MF 103
you can buy effects loops where you can switch the order of pedals. that way you can have both. you can also find boxes that will move the phaser (or whatever else you choose) from in line with the delay to the effects loop of the delay! then you can have a phaser before, or phasing delay trails.
personally, i have my phaser right before the delay. i like the ambiance of the delay at the end.
PS- try using the LFO out of the phaser into the Delay Time in on the delay....and prepare for some trippy sounds.

@mhuxtable
I would love to know some of the gear for routing and switching... I know switchblade (sound sculpture) which is very cool, but for me it is little to complicated... I would prefer maybe four channel router with option to change order of channels. The main reason for me not to buy switchblade is lack of improvisational/intuitive options.
So if you know any others gadgets, please let me know.

Re: New MF 103
off the top of my head, Lehle and Radial brands come to mind.
I know there's others though....just search different guitar sites for "switchers" "routers" & the like.

I think its molten audio that has some bizarre loop/routing pedals that are cv controllable

Well... that are just bypass boxes. I' m talking about routers, which can change order of effects.

Re: New MF 103
Yes they have those too
Edit: just double checked 1) its molten voltage 2) they either dont make that pedal any more our I was thinking of something different. But I do remember there being a pedal that switches the order of fx loops

Build one, its easy, that's what I did, then you can include your own optios like a feedback loop even.
Its handy on a permanent board!

Any further information about your implementation, alien8?

Off topic:
I use a separate feedback loop to make the pedals do some extra wild stuff on top of what they already do...
A switch box to re-route a phaser into the delay loop and back out would need a 4PDT stomp switch - you have to re-route 3 signal paths, and add an LED... you could use a 3PDT and a sneaky millennium bypass LED.
It's a 4 loop with master bypass strip. Loops B and C are reversible allowing me to change the order of Moog and synth pedals. It uses a 4PDT mini toggle switch wired like this: http://singlecoil.com/tb-strip/dia11.html. Singlecoil.com is a great resource for DIY switches at a basic level.willi wrote:Any further information about your implementation, alien8?
