creating a tracking ringmod
I was just watching some freqbox demos and got to thinking; if you hard sync the freqbox, take the osc out to the carrier in on the ringmod, would this create a tracking ringmod similar to the one on the pigtronix mothership? Essentially it would have more control I would think too, minus the glide though
My modular so far: Q104, Q106 x2, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, Mixer and Mankato playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M x2 ( STEREO!) Volca Beats and Bass, Arturia Beat step
Re: creating a tracking ringmod
Sadly, no.
The OSC out on the freqbox does not change/track frequency in this case -
the Hard Sync is retriggering things, and you hear an apparent pitch tracking -
but the OSC out is not affected by this, there you hear a constant pitch, controlled
only by the big knob, or by CV in.
You can run the Mix out of the FreqBox into the carrier in, but no pitch offset, so
more mangled sound, not very ringmodish.
And if you have CV, you can move the ring mod freq around with that, no need
of a freqbox.

Re: creating a tracking ringmod
Just feed the 1V/oct CV signal into the ring mod FREQ and it will track.

Re: creating a tracking ringmod
hmm, that's weird, I remember seeing a youtube video from big city music where they plugged a guitar into the freqbox, turn the mix to zero, osc out went to input on the pigtronix attack/sustain, and the clean out went to the trigger in, then audio out went to a delay then amp. They hard sync the guitar signal and the osc out tracked the pitch and the attack/sustain acted as a vca.cliffman wrote:Sadly, no.

sorry I should have mentioned I was looking to do this with a guitar. I know I can do this with a cv signalJust Me wrote:Just feed the 1V/oct CV signal into the ring mod FREQ and it will track.
