Ring Modulator (Placement in Chain)

Post by Merv » Sun Aug 24, 2003 3:36 am

Where would you put a MF Ring Mod in your effects chain. I am a guitar player and I use a lot of effects: overdrive, fuzz, compression, wah, octaver, volume, boost, delays, vocoder.

Thanks!

i generally place mine in the middle - after tone shaping effects (fuzz, distortion, octave/pitch stuff, etc) but before time-based effects (delay, reverb, flanger)

I can see why you put the Ring Mod after tone shaping effects. Why do you put it after time based effects? Is the effect cleaner this way? That's my guess, considering that Ring Mod would affect all of the delays as well as the source signal if it were placed after time based effects.
