Why does external input clip when input set to none?

Post by MichaelTiemann » Thu Jun 02, 2022 5:50 pm

I'm playing around with the GEOSYNTHS Singularity Vol 3 patch set--fun!

I experienced some clipping and traced it to the fact that I still have the cables I used for voice card calibration installed. These cables route SUB L/R to External Input and the Mic/Combo input.

The FARSCAPE GEO patch does have a 67% level set for EXTERNAL input, but the external input parameters are set to None (not Mic, not Line). So there should be no signal coming in, right? Nevertheless, I turned the EXTERNAL gain to zero, and there was still clipping when I played 4-5 notes. When I removed the cables, the clipping went away. I expect that selecting None as an input, and setting gain to zero would zero out any incoming signal, and thus no clipping. Is this a bug?

I'm running 1.5.0 firmware.
