The One Vocoder?
Has anyone had a good experience with The One's vocoder effects? I have had several unsuccessful goes. Using an SM58, trim has to be at 100% to get a response, and basically am getting nothing but broken, distorted barks. Is this another to add the Moog to do list in future update or am I missing something? Admittedly, have not tried building my own from init yet.
Re: The One Vocoder?
You need a mic preamp. The output of a mic is very small and it is unlikely that the M1 trim has enough gain for a microphone.
Gear list: '04 Saturn Ion, John Deere X300 tractor, ganged set of seven reel mowers for 3 acres of lawn, herd of sheep for backup lawn mowers, two tiger cats for mouse population control Oh you meant MUSIC gear Oops I hit the 255 character limi

Hang tight. The next firmware update will significantly improve the Vocoders.

It's great to hear that they are working on the vocoders!
I'll add a "Part II" to the comment on using a pre-amp.
-you also need to use a compressor going into it. It is SUPER sensitive. You need to maintain as stable a signal as possible once you find your spot.

Ahhh, makes sense. Thanks!
Re: The One Vocoder?
It would be super useful to include the rev number expected to include the fix. I see that you posted this in December, but I'm not sure when 1.0.3 came out -- so I don't know if I already have the fix or whether I'm waiting for 1.0.4._DemonDan_ wrote:Hi synth&swindle, synth&swindle wrote:Has anyone had a good experience with The One's vocoder effects? I'm new here but I already see you're a great asset here. Thanks Dan!!

I don't use vocoders a lot, and haven't had time to mess with it, but I believe that 1.03 had significant improvements for it.

Re: The One Vocoder?
The MIC in input on the ONE has enough juice dont need a preamp.
But the vocoder sure is sensitive to levels!! When you get enough level its too easy to overdrive it in a moment of vocal passion.
Also, with any level of sibilance, the raw voice comes through...at mix level 100 and (say) 50% sibilance i hear my voice loud and clear in the mix.
Version 1.03, BTW

Re: The One Vocoder?
Here's a One Vocoder quick start that I was looking for, if anyone else is interested. Nick Batt's Sonic Lab video. 27:37 minutes in. http://www.synthtopia.com/.../19/moog-o ... th-review/

Re: The One Vocoder?
The Moog One might be a great analog synth, but having had a look at that video starting from 27:37 and on, I must say that this is one of the worst sounding vocoders that I've ever heard.
Re: The One Vocoder?
You're absolutely right.
I prefer my ONE for all other things he can do really perfectly and was made for this.
For nice vocoding I prefer my Behringer VC 340.

Re: The One Vocoder?
I think the Moog One was never intended to be a Vocoder. I see the FX section more as an add-on, not as the main feature.
keep on turning these Moog knobs
Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

Re: The One Vocoder?
Quite agree, i use the stereo chorus and the stereo delay occasionally (I don’t save presets as part of the patch) and let outboard or DAW do FX. If fairness I do the same on the Prophet 6! THe FX are far better than day one but I don’t think they’re yet strong enough across the board.the FX section more as an add-on, not as the main feature.
