Duophonic: same behaviour with Subsequent 25 & 37?

Post by mcclaneonfire » Sat Jan 28, 2023 4:02 pm

Hello everyone,

I tried both the subsequent 25 & the 37 in a store.
With the 37 I played 4 or maybe 5 notes at the same time! So a Chord is no problem - great!!!
With the 25 I didn't get to activate duophonic mode because I did not know how to activate it.

So 2 questions:
1. Why can the 37 do more than 2 notes?? I thought duophonic means that...
2. Can the 25 do the same?

I ask, because my heart is tending a biiit more towards the Subsequent 25.

Kind regards, Tobias

Hi Tobias and welcome to the forum!

The Subsequents are duophonic, i.e. you can control two different pitches with two different key presses.
If you press more than two keys, the synth will "select" two of them in order to control the two pitches.
The two different pitches are played by each oscillator of the synth.

If you heard more than two distinct pitches, to mer, there are 3 possible explanations:
- the two oscillators and sub oscillator were set so that the synth can play a 3-sound chord with only one finger (which I doubt is possible on the Subsequents)
- the synth was controling another polyphonic instrument through MIDI
- you may have heard wrongly.

Anyone prove me wrong but I'm quite sure the Subsequents duophonic modes are the same. Obviously, you have to activate it. Hope this helps :)

Hi stiiiiiiive,

ouké thank you for the fast answer!
Maybe I was so excited that I heard it wrongly

I'm not sure which one to get because they both seem great choices - aaaah!
The 25 is seems great to me for it's compact format and therefor straight to the point.
And the 37 offers even more tools to form sounds - and is more complex.

Well I'll figure out the right one for me.
